A Pleasure To Have In Class

Nia Wyn’s debut album ‘A Pleasure To Have In Class’ is a captivating soul offering that brings her artistry to the forefront in the soul revival scene. Heavily influenced by the sounds coming out of Detroit, Philadelphia and Memphis in the 1960s and 1970s, ‘A Pleasure To Have In Class’ confidently showcases Wyn’s production style, aptitude for authentic and introspective story-telling and distinctively powerful vocals. Whilst rooted in mid-century sounds, the record feels undoubtedly contemporary, and the lyrical content is no different.

The album title is a nod to the school report cards and experiences of anxious (and undiagnosed neurodivergent) children of the millennial generation, and the record covers a wide range of themes from Nia’s own experience of being diagnosed autistic as an adult, mental health issues, the culture wars against the queer and trans community, to reaching a sobriety anniversary and the complex feelings it can bring.
