To mark 100 years since the premiere of Puccini’s final opera Turandot, Decca presents a limited-edition deluxe reissue of the legendary 1972 recording conducted by Zubin Mehta.
Featuring an all-star cast of Luciano Pavarotti, Joan Sutherland, Montserrat Caballé and Nicolai Ghiaurov, this “definitive” recording includes Pavarotti’s signature aria Nessun Dorma, which became a global phenomenon during the FIFA World Cup 1990 and remains the most streamed opera aria of all time.
Newly remastered in 24-bit/192kHz from the original master tapes, this release is available on vinyl for the first time since the 1970s and as a first-ever hybrid SACD.
Presented in a linen-bound deluxe box with a hardback book, archival material and exclusive artwork, this strictly limited edition will not be repressed.
Vinyl Edition: LPs half-speed mastered by Miles Showell & cut at Abbey Road Studios, and pressed on 180gm vinyl; with poly-lined inner sleeves. Hybrid SACD Edition: presenting 24-bit audio.
