Svart Tulpan - Svart Tulpan - Remix
“…one of the most exciting new additions to the Swedish music scene this year.”
Svart Tulpan has been nominated for “Newcomer of the Year” at the Manifest Gala 2026 — the major event for Sweden’s indie scene, taking place at Nalen in Stockholm on March 25.
Svart Tulpan is a pop group formed in Bagarmossen in 2023, creating accessible yet contemplative neoclassical pop in Swedish. With their tense yet reassuring and organic sound — once described as “indie yacht rock” — they combine strong melodies with melancholic lyrics. Behind the band is singer/guitarist Anders Ericsson (Lustans Lakejer; formerly the iconic Ubangi with Orup/Cia Berg; Ratata, among others). He has been compared to both “...a young Thåström” as well as Markus Krunegård and Jacob Hellman.
Svart Tulpan’s debut single “Nu när vi ändå talar om döden” was named one of the best songs of 2024 by Zero Music Magazine and has remained on GAFFA’s Alternative/Indie chart since its release in August 2024. Among the band’s fans are several heavyweights in Swedish pop, including Mauro Scocco and Noice, who have contributed both remixes and words of support.
Pelle Lidell (former A&R at Universal Music, Idol jury member, etc.) on Svart Tulpan: “So many try, but few succeed in finding the right sound. You have! As far as I know, there is no other Swedish-language pop that sounds like Svart Tulpan.”
Zero Music Magazine on Svart Tulpan: “…one of the most exciting new additions to the Swedish music scene this year.”
In a short time, Svart Tulpan has become a buzzworthy act, building a rapidly growing fanbase on Spotify and social media. They have already performed a couple of live shows (including at Kollektivet Livet Bar & Scen in Stockholm) and appeared on radio.
The self-titled debut album is now being released on CD together with the remixed tracks and a bonus track (S-Rock/Border), and includes the previously released singles along with six additional songs.
